Vaccines 101:

Why?

DHLPP- combo vaccine that boosts immunity for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. This vaccine is given to puppies at 6 weeks old, then every 2-3 weeks until they turn 16 weeks old. At 16 weeks, they will receive their last “puppy shot” and then it will be a yearly vaccine after that.

Rabies Vaccine- required by law. Can be a one or a three year vaccine depending on the law set by the county.

Bordetella- most commonly known as “kennel cough”. Recommended to dogs that will be boarded for any reason or going to a groomer or dog park.

Rattlesnake vaccine- helps boost immunity for future snake bites. Recommended to dogs who spend any time in the country or live where snakes have previously been found.
